Reporting to City Development Manager

What is the role?

Siting within the newly formed City Development structure this role will contribute to the sustainable development and regeneration of the City.

Principal Accountabilities

• To co-ordinate and direct the work of the CLT to ensure that resources are used in an effective and proportionate manner to promote a safe and healthy environment to support sustainable development and regeneration within the City

• To take the lead role and responsibility in matters relating to Part IIA

• To liaise effectively with developers, external agencies and internal partners to ensure that contaminated land is managed in an appropriate manner

• To provide advice and information to developers, members of the public councillors and other stakeholders on all matters relating to contaminated land

Specific Accountabilities

• Manage the team to ensure that resources are used effectively

• Manage the Contaminated Land team to ensure that there are sound working practices within the team

• Liaise with other council departments to provide professional advice on matters relating to contaminated land

• To be responsible for ensuring that all major contaminated ladn investigations and remediation projects in the City are carried out in an appropriate manner

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external partners, particularly the EA

• Ensure that the team provides appropriate advice to the DM team and other Services on matters relating to contaminated land. Attend meetings, committee and appeal hearings as necessary to give information and advice or present evidence

• Maintain a register of contaminated land in line with the legislative requirements

Who is the person?

You need to have:

Education and training

• Relevant degree

Knowledge and Experience

• Relevant experience in a similar technical job or related field

• Proven experience is dealing with complex projects

• Good project management skills

• Proven record of strong relationships with external partners

• A demonstrable ability to act as a catalyst for change and take forward new ideas

• Highly developed communication skills, written and verbal

• Ability to work under pressure

• Good problem solving skills

• Ability to critically appraise technical reports and communicate issues in an appropriate manner

• Committed to ream success

• Ability to identify new ways of working and manage change
