The role of Faculty Business Development Manager within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is to have oversight of capabilities, requirements and opportunities for the Faculty to engage with business, public sector and community organisations in research and knowledge transfer activity, in accordance with the Faculty’s and University’s strategic plan.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the role holder is responsible for promoting the University’s knowledge transfer agenda, developing business relationships, preparing bids and tenders, conducting negotiations with sponsors, the management of contracts and representing the Faculty and the University, as required.
We are looking for a graduate (or equivalent experience) who has an understanding of the national Higher Education environment and knowledge of developments within the HE sector related to business engagement. Candidates will require excellent written, verbal and IT skills and be able to represent the Faculty nationally and internationally. The post will require experience of successful bidding, tendering and negotiation for major contracts. Leadership and project management skills are also essential as is the flexibility to travel and to work outside standard office hours to meet project demands.
