The Faculty of Science wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Applied Physics to start on 1 September 2015.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver high-quality teaching and have an established record of research/consultancy/industrial experience in relevant areas of Applied Physics. The candidate should possess the dynamism, expertise and qualifications to contribute to the academic development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a particular emphasis on the further enhancement of links with our industrial collaborators. The University intends to expand the provision of Applied Physics, including planned development of new courses at MPhys level. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the potential to grow a REF-competitive profile, the capability for grant capture/income generation, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research (e.g. MRes, MPhil, PhD).

We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups in science. The University of Portsmouth holds an Athena Swan Bronze Award and is an Institute of Physics Project Juno Supporter; these projects show a commitment to introduce organizational and cultural practices that promote gender equality in science and create a better working environment for me and women.
