The Faculty is seeking to appoint a Learning Support Tutor in the area of generic Academic Skills. This is a term-time position which equate to 0.82 FTE.   You will be joining our current team of Learning Support Tutors working across the four Schools in the Faculty.

Learning Support Tutors provide high quality learning and skills support to our students under guidance from lecturing staff.  Tutors will contribute to the sourcing, production, evaluation and enhancement of learning support materials in a variety of media. Tutors will also work with the central Academic Skills unit (ASK) which is located in the Department for Curriculum and Quality Enhancement.

Specifically, we are looking for applicants with knowledge and experience of providing generic academic skills support, but it would be helpful if you have a background in the humanities and social sciences (particularly one or more of the following subject areas:  English Literature, History, Journalism, Politics and International Relations and Sociology).

The selection process will be in two stages.  Stage one will comprise of tests for proof reading, comprehension and summarising skills, to be followed by  a formal, panel interview, during which candidates will be asked to give a short presentation.

The person appointed will be offered an induction programme, training and mentorship, with further opportunities for professional development.
