The University of Portsmouth is seeking to appoint a dynamic and pro-active individual to play an important role in the student focused external returns team.  With over 21,000 students and ranked in the top 400 universities in the world (Times Higher Education World Rankings 2014) it is an exciting time to be joining the University and contributing to the challenges of fulfilling our statutory reporting requirements.

As a key member of the team you will lead and contribute to improvements in data quality and integrity through the development, implementation and maintenance of a coherent framework of data validation.  An essential part of this will be taking responsibility with colleagues for the completion and submission of the student focused statutory returns in an accurate and timely fashion.  In addition you will be expected to produce reports and other data outputs using a variety of tools and methods including; end-user reporting software, spreadsheets, structured query languages.

Applicants for this position are expected to be well qualified and with substantial relevant experience to meet the challenges facing the university sector in the areas described. Good communication skills are a must along with the ability to manage a busy workload to tight deadlines demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail at all times. You should have experience of working with corporate databases and large data sets, conducting analysis and producing reports using various reporting tools. A flair and desire to solve problems creatively using your initiative is essential. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment and with Student Information Management Systems would be an advantage.
