The role of Faculty Manager within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is to ensure the provision of effective and efficient support services through the overall management of the Faculty’s support staff. The role holder will lead, direct and manage all support staff teams ensuring appropriate interrelation.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the role holder is responsible and for:
· student recruitment administration
· financial, strategic and budgetary planning
· human resources management
· managing physical resources
· overseeing health and safety and IT issues for the Faculty
· quality assurance compliance of administrative systems for internal and external audits.
The Faculty Manager will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside the Faculty, including Associate Deans, Heads of Academic Departments and senior managers in Finance, HR, Planning, Marketing, Academic Registry, Estates and IS to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures. The Faculty Manager will work to ensure the continuous improvement of policy and practice to facilitate the strategic goals of the Faculty and University in the light of evolving and changing internal and external environments.
Essential qualifications for this post are a first degree or equivalent and a desirably a higher degree or professional qualification in a relevant area. Applicants will require experience of managing diverse teams in a higher education environment, including managing budgets and have experience of strategic leadership and project management. The successful candidate will have high level communication and influencing skills, business planning and negotiation skills and be able to lead and manage change.
