The University of Portsmouth Dental Academy is a ground breaking joint development between the University of Portsmouth and Kings College London Dental Institute that brings together the training of undergraduate dentists and dental care professionals in a new expanded facility in the heart of Portsmouth.

The Dental Academy offers the following awards: BSc in Hygiene/Therapy, a Certificate of Higher Education in Dental Nursing and a Foundation Award in Science and Dental Therapy. It is also an outreach training centre for fifth year Kings College London Dental Institute undergraduates.

An innovative model of team-based training is offered, where dental and dental care professional students learn to care for patients side by side, undertaking complementary programmes designed to enable the next generation of dentists and dental care professionals to work in new ways that optimise professional skill.

The Dental nurse post provides nursing support to staff and students and contributes to the effective delivery of the clinical service and clinical education. Duties will include chair side support, maintaining patient records, and support on the clinical floor (comprising forty-four chairs).

Applicants must hold a dental nursing qualification, personal indemnity and GDC registration. Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team, is essential. The Dental Academy provides a friendly and team orientated environment where personal development is encouraged.

We are offering Maternity cover for 5 days a week Term time only
