The person appointed will undertake teaching and research in the area of International Development with particular reference to international cooperation and the external relations of the EU. Preference will be given to candidates with a regional specialism in Africa or Asia.

The appointee will contribute to teaching in International Development Studies and to European Studies. Key teaching will include ‘Introduction to the Developing World’; ‘Introduction to International Development Studies’; ‘The Aid Business: Policies and Issues’; ‘EU in a Global Context’; contributions to seminar teaching on units at levels 4 and 5. S/he will also contribute to the teaching of Study Skills, Research Management, and to dissertation supervision. 

The successful candidate will have completed a relevant PhD or be very close to completion and will be an active researcher with evidence of publications/potential to publish.  S/he will have excellent interpersonal skills, be student-centred and have relevant experience of teaching undergraduate students.   S/he will be required to carry out the administrative tasks associated with various taught units; provide pastoral care to students; undertake an administrative role; and to be a full and collegiate member of a teaching team.
