The successful candidate will have an outstanding research record that is internationally recognised.  He or she will be expected to pursue research of the highest standards and to provide leadership to colleagues working across the School in mechanical engineering.  The professor will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in excellent laboratories, including Mechanical Behaviour of Materials, Advanced Polymer and Composites  and Structural Mechanics.

We seek an exceptional academic to provide strategic leadership in research across the disciplines in mechanical engineering, but particularly welcome applications in the areas of engineering materials and mechanics.  The intention is to complement, not duplicate, the existing areas of expertise, and to provide leadership and research support for research staff and students. The professor is also expected to provide inspirational academic leadership in teaching and curriculum development within the School of Engineering
