In recognition of the success of the Faculty of Technology, the University of Portsmouth would like to appoint a new Teaching Fellow in the area of Design and Engineering. The post holder will work with academic teams in the Schools of Engineering and the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying and will also engage in activities across the Faculty of Technology.
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and highly motivated member of staff who will make a difference in the education of the future generations of engineers. The post holder will undertake teaching, tutorial and practical work supervision and the development of learning activities. The post will also contribute to the design, delivery and administration of assessment and contribute to the excellent pastoral care across the schools.
The post will contribute to the delivery of core and specialist units in Civil Engineering and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering programmes, with particular teaching in CAD/CAE activities and so subject expertise in computer applications such as CREO, AutoCAD and Photoshop are essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in CAD/CAE design, including product and engineering innovation. They will also be enthusiastic about teaching and assessing in Higher Education and taking part in outreach activities.
Additionally the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with staff from a number of academic disciplines and with relevant professionals and organisations who may wish to make use of our facilities. There will be opportunities to gain a recognised HE teaching qualification and/or study for a higher degree if appropriate.
