My client is a very successful food dispatcher based in Portsmouth is looking to recruit a Transport Supervisor on a permanent basis. The successful role holder will be responsible for managing a small team of operational staff ensuring service levels to customers are executed to a high standard. They will also be responsible for assisting in the daily planning of company & third party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers get clear precise instruction.

Working hours are Tuesday to Saturday 8am-6pm. Candidates who apply must be available to work these hours.

Duties to include:

• Responsible for ensuring all vehicles and trailer service are completed on time
• Manage the balance between own fleet and sub contract requirements on inbound and outbound loads
• Ensure that depots daily loadfill is in line with the companies weekly budget
• Keeping all systems up to date re job allocation and dispatch
• Ensure that drivers received a weekly performance updates re fuel performance and compliance issues
• Provide weekly rota's for both traffic operations and drivers, and manage absence request accordingly
• Ensure that all incidents/ issues are investigated and reported through the correct lines
• Recruit staff accordingly
• Provide guidance and training to all reportable staff
• Identify and deal with any staff problems including performance, absence, conduct and timekeeping
• To be involved in driver HR issues up to dismissal

Experience Required

• Experience in similar role within the transport & logistics industry
• Experience of report writing using excel
• Good attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Logical thinker
