Portsmouth is a great waterfront city with a bright future; an ambitious regeneration strategy that is already unlocking the city's potential and £1bn of investment coming our way.

As part of shaping the great waterfront city, the city council is committed to making Portsmouth a great place for our residents to live and work.

Public Health Portsmouth plays a key role in achieving the cities ambitions by providing leadership and influence to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Portsmouth. We do this by focusing on improving the health of our poorest residents fastest and reducing health inequalities that exist within the city.

The service leads on delivering the council's new public health role and in doing so is seeking to build understanding of these responsibilities, the part to be played by the wider organisation and partners and re-designing services which are more holistic for residents. At the core of the service is a focus on primary prevention and early intervention to ensure that our residents have access to advice and guidance and early help.

We know that our success will be influenced by the strength of our relationships working with key partners such as Portsmouth CCG, the voluntary and community sector, businesses, the University of Portsmouth and residents.

As a service we take pride in our work by valuing others and focusing on what's important so that we make a real and positive difference. Our values are outlined in our Ways of Working and our Guiding Principles and if they reflect how you are and how you work then this could be the role that meets your expectations.

What is the role?

You will work to develop key strategies, projects and initiatives that are Public Health priorities to address health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.

The role will require a flexible approach with the ability to respond to a diverse portfolio of work, which will include developing innovative approaches along with the ability to complete projects to a high standard.

Closing 10:00 on 24.08.15
