What is the role?
Reporting to the Development Management Team Leader you will be involved in the following duties:
• Dealing with planning and other applications submitted under current planning legislation where necessary negotiating with applicants, advising third parties about the proposal and providing advice to members and in some cases presenting the item to the Planning Committee • Giving advice and guidance on whether development would be supported or how proposals could be amended to gain support • The preparation of evidence and statements for planning appeals, including attendance at site visits. • Assistance with enquiries and investigation associated with the enforcement of unauthorised development, preparing relevant orders and Notices; dealing with matters relating to the discharge of planning conditions. • General correspondence, dealing with verbal and written enquiries
Who is the person?
You need to:
1. Be educated to degree level in Town and Country Planning or equivalent.
2. Ideally have experience of working in a planning environment and it would be an advantage to have experience of development control work.
3. Have knowledge of current planning legislation and procedures.
4. Have good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to develop partnerships with other organisations.
5. Be a good team player with organisational and planning skills to meet the requirements of the post.
6. Be willing to maintain up to date professional knowledge together with training and development needs of the role.
7. Have good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office.
8. Ideally have a full driving licence as the post will require visiting development sites across the City
