The University of Portsmouth seeks to appoint an experienced professional archivist, with an interest in naval heritage. This is a two-year, full-time post.

0.6 of the postholder’s time will be devoted to fulfilling a contract with the Warrior Preservation Trust (WPT) for the digitisation and management of the archives of HMS Warrior 1860, including full cataloguing, identification of storage and conservation issues, as well as interpretive work and future planning of access and research potential. An enhanced DBS check may be required for this post.

The post holder will need to be MOD security cleared.

0.4 of the postholder’s time will be devoted to work with the History team in the School of Social, Historical and Literary Studies, strengthening the existing relationships with the full range of local and regional Naval Heritage institutions exploring and developing the use of their archives and collections for online distance-learning activities at introductory and postgraduate level.
