Following our success in winning research funding for the HAVEN (Hospital Alerting via Electronic Noticeboard) project from the Health Innovation Challenge Fund (administered by the Wellcome Trust and Department of Health), the Centre for Healthcare Modelling and Informatics at the University of Portsmouth is looking for an outstanding person to join the Clinical Outcomes Group.

The successful candidate will contribute to our modelling of patient outcomes based on clinical data. They will make a major contribution to the development of a new software system that allows prediction of patient deterioration based on clinical data including pathology and vital signs.

Other duties will include contributing to writing up the findings of the work, attending conferences and representing the group at meetings.

The successful candidate will have excellent, relevant qualifications and research training in a numerate discipline, preferably to PhD level. They will also have excellent verbal and written communications skills. They will need to have good programming skills and, ideally, experience of Scrum or a similar methodology, web-based systems, and dealing with data in large volumes, preferably health-related data.

The candidate should also have proven experience of working as part of a team and the ability to meet deadlines.
