Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Computer Vision/Virtual Reality, available for 7 months, starting as soon as possible.
The Research Associate will join the School of Creative Technologies at the University of Portsmouth to assist on a research project exploring a class of Virtual Environments where every virtual object is associated to a physical counterpart (a concept which we call “Substitutional Reality”). The successful applicant will be exploring the use of Computer Vision and depth sensing techniques to obtain dynamic reconstructions of physical objects. The ideal candidate will have a track record of designing and implementing systems or interaction techniques making use of Computer Vision algorithms and a record of related publications.
The candidate will be expected to take a lead on the development of a software prototype and the design of an interaction study. Excellent knowledge of the technical aspects related to Computer Vision (e.g., good C++ skills, familiarity with related APIs such as PCL) is essential. You should be working towards completion of, or have completed, a PhD in Computer Vision, Virtual Reality, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science or related discipline.
