An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at the University of Portsmouth sport and recreation facilities. The department has recently reviewed its staffing restructure which have included extending our opening hours, expanding our workforce and ensuring we our operationally effective to deliver a wide ranging and quality breadth of services. This is an exciting time to be joining the University which is under new senior leadership, a new strategic direction and new estates master planning with major capital for facility development.
The Department of Sport & Recreation is responsible for the sporting provision at the University and aims to provide opportunities for participation in a wide range of sporting & recreational activities for students, staff & community users. We manage all of the University sports facilities and associated programmes, ranging from gym’s and sports halls to coach education courses and sports volunteering. We have over 3000 members contributing to well over 400,000 visits to our facilities each year.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated and organised Sport & Recreation team responsible for ensuring safe and efficient daily operation of the facilities, meeting accredited standards in order to provide a high level of customer service at all of the University’s sports sites. You should have proven experience in handling a diverse range of situations in a customer focussed environment. You will be at the heart of delivering an excellent customer service to our users.
You will report to the Sports Facilities and Operations Officer and will be jointly responsible for a team of Recreation Assistants, Sports/Fitness Instructors, Customer Service Advisors and casual staff, to co-ordinate their operational activity ensuring we deliver an excellent experience to our students and customers.
You will undertake projects with guidance from senior management, in order to support the day-to-day operations of the Sport and Recreation Department.
You will work within a very busy operation and sit within a team of operational staff and administrators.
The candidate selected for this position must complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Application Form which will be provided once the selection process has been completed.
