Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Estate Management to contribute to the established professionally accredited Real Estate and Property undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered in the School. This is an exciting opportunity to join our School in a role that brings together professional practice and academia. Development of employable graduates is at the heart of our School and you will therefore be expected to support the delivery of the property and real estate courses by providing an outstanding experience for our students. In addition to the ability to engage, motivate and support students, the role will provide the opportunity to contribute to our developing research interest in the adoption of emerging and digital technologies in support of facility and estate management.
The successful applicant will have previous professional experience and/or academic expertise in the development cycle for both commercial and residential property from acquisition to disposal. An awareness of current trends and advances within the profession - both nationally and internationally would be an advantage. As necessary, they will be supported and encouraged to engage with external partners and professional accreditors in order to develop a research profile. The role requires excellent communication and management skills, a willingness to engage with a broad range of built environment themes and an enthusiasm for the development of innovative teaching and research initiatives.
The School has an excellent staff-student relationship and healthy undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment representing a broad range of professionally accredited courses, supported by excellent links with both practice and professional institutions. Full support will be provided to develop academic skills through the APEX Programme and a post-graduate qualification, if required.
We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups. The University of Portsmouth holds an Athena Swan bronze award and is committed to introduce organisational and cultural practices that promote gender equality and create a better working environment for all. The School has a Flexible Working policy, which is able to support working arrangements for those with caring responsibilities.
