Transport Planner / Coordinator

We are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join an impressive and growing travel firm based in Fareham. This is a permanent role and you will benefit from a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience, as well as 28 days' holiday per year, free on-site parking, pension scheme, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, perkbox (discount scheme) and staff discounts on travel/holidays.

This position will be on an 8:00 – 5:30 Monday to Friday shift pattern.

Job Purpose

You will be responsible for planning the allocation of vehicle and driver resources to meet legal, service and efficiency targets. You will ensure capacity is managed and any spare is identified as available. You will provide visibility of forward demand liaising closely with Sales and Commercial to realise any revenue opportunities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:-

  • Providing forward plans for Drivers, ensuring all work is allocated in the agreed timelines.
  • Reacting to operational situations, assisting with rapid response issues.
  • Vehicle allocation to meet 180 day planning horizon.
  • Ensure strict conformance with transport legislations.
  • Tour driver, contract drive, private hire driver and National Express driver allocation, ensuring timescales are met.
  • Vehicle scheduling maintaining a 3 day forward plan.
  • Liaison with Engineering to maximise vehicle availability.
  • Ensure compliance to KPI's and reporting deadlines.
  • Liaising with dispatch drivers on a daily basis
  • Dealing with queries from drivers / clients and resolving.
  • Ensuring all vehicles are in the correct destinations at the designated times.

You will require the following skills and experience: -

  • Analytical and high levels of attention to detail
  • Experience in transport planning and scheduling and route planning
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High levels of customer service to exceed customer expectations
  • Results orientated
  • Computer literate
  • Working knowledge of drivers hours regulations
