Interview date:  28 November 2016

The University of Portsmouth is seeking a Distance Learning Course Developer (3 years, fixed term) to join its friendly and vibrant School of Civil Engineering and Surveying. This new position is part of a strategic investment to support the School’s future Distance Learning course provision, both in the UK and overseas.  In this role, you will be required to work with academic subject specialists, using your knowledge and expertise of Distance Learning and Teaching, to develop on-line learning, teaching and assessment material.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and digital technology skills, enabling them to work effectively both with subject teams and on their own initiative.  An excellent standard of written English is also required.  Whilst subject knowledge relevant to the courses taught in the School is not essential, it would be advantageous in carrying out the role.  Full support is provided to develop your academic skills through the APEX Programme and a post-graduate qualification, if required.

The School has an excellent staff-student relationship, high levels of staff and student satisfaction, and healthy undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment to a broad range of fully accredited ICE and RICS courses, supported by good links with industry, practice and the professional institutions.

We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups. The School holds an Athena SWAN bronze award and is committed to introduce organisational and cultural practices that promote gender equality and create a better working environment for men and women.  The School has a Flexible Working policy, which is able to support working arrangements for those with caring responsibilities, and the University is recognised as a UK Top 30 Employer for Working Families.
