The Service

Transport, Environment and Business Support

Purpose

This role is responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring and developing Adult Social Care transport. It will also support the Transport Operations Manager and Transport Planning Manager in supporting and delivering Fleet Management functions, including income generation.

What is the role? Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for: • Assist with the administration and promotion of PCC Traded Services, including liaising with external companies and internal services over transport requirements, and for the day to day resolution of operational problems. • Co-ordinate and provide information relating to Adult Social Care transport services • Carry out risk assessments on Adult Social Care transport routes to ensure compliance with current Health and Safety legislation. • Respond to and investigate queries, and deal with operational queries raised by members of the public and other stakeholders. • Provide technical information on Adult Social Care transport and fleet management traded services. Plus assistance in the preparation of reports and briefing notes to senior managers as required. • Investigate operational and service complaints, using diplomacy and integrity with external partner firms as well as internal providers, providing appropriate verbal and written responses, and to record all outcomes accordingly. • Working across the Transport Planning Team, dealing with the day-to-day activities of the section. • Liaise with members of the public and other organisations regarding general enquiries in respect of the work of the Transport Planning Team including dealing with correspondence, attending meeting and preparing reports. • Use well developed communication skills to liaise and work effectively with other internal and external partners, to ensure a cohesive and collaborative approach to Adult Social Care Transport and fleet management services. • Remain up to date and compliant with all relevant organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to uphold standards of best practice. • Undertake any other duty requested by the Transport Planning Manager or their representative equal to duties already carried out in the role.

Who is the person?

You need to have: • Experience of Fleet Management • Good organisational skills. • Good numerical analysis skills. • Good interpersonal communication and networking skills, which enable you to build effective relationships and have a positive influence on stakeholders and colleagues. • Good communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and share information. • Experience of dealing with financial and budget management. • Pro-active, with a willingness to seek opportunities for developing transport. Able to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to problems. • A customer focused approach to work which promotes your passion to deliver excellent service and continuous improvement on transport issues for the City's residents. • Able to understand and work within a budget. Able to discuss and negotiate prices with suppliers. • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure, managing competing demands. • Ability to work with other people to deliver a piece of work to an agreed standard and within an agreed timeframe. • The ability to work and manage under pressure and meet deadlines as appropriate. • Persuasive, confident and effective communicator, able to communicate verbal messages clearly, concisely and at a level appropriate to the audience. • A working knowledge of Microsoft applications and good general IT skills.
