Underwriter

Salary - £18,360 - £21,420 + Bonus

We are currently recruiting for an Underwriter to work for a large Financial Services company based in Portsmouth. The company is a specialist in their field and have a modern office which is rapidly expanding.

This role would be suitable for someone who has experience within an underwriting role either within an Insurance or Finance environment. You will be responsible for assessing a customer's financial situation using a set of pre-defined guidelines.

Please note the standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week and the rostered hours will be worked on an alternative shift pattern of 9:00 – 17:30 one week and 12:00 – 20:00 the next week. Some weekends will need to be worked and the hours would be Saturday 9:00 – 17:30 and Sunday 10-16:00. You will only work 5 days per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assessing the customers profile to obtain a credit report
• Obtaining and assessing the customer's credit report to establish a lend limit for the customer
• Ensure the product being purchased fits the lend criteria set out
• Reviewing referred applications within a timely manner
• Confirming details of the lend limit to the sales person so they can proceed with the application
• Providing factual information to the sales team whilst maintaining an effective working relationship with them
• Adhering to policies to minimise risk to the business
• Handle complaints from sales team in regards to underwriting decisions

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Experience of working as an Underwriter for a Financial Services Provider
• Proven track record of success in a similar role
• Good communication skills both written & verbally
• Strong working knowledge of the FCA & TCF
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
