 30 April 2017

Interview date: 15 May 2017

This post is in the Department of Employability at the University of Portsmouth and is part of our nest (Student Enterprise) Team. The post will be based in our Innovation Space.

The Department of Employability provide information, advice and guidance to students and graduates on choosing the right career, volunteering, part-time work and graduate jobs. We run a large number of events, workshops and skills sessions offering opportunities with employers.

Our nest team organise and deliver a range of activities, events and workshops to support students and graduates at the university to develop the skills and knowledge they need to develop their own business, or to be enterprising in the workplace.

The Enterprise Assistant will support our nest team to expand its engagement and impact with students, graduates and academic staff by:

·         Increasing and making more accessible the range of resources held online which are available to students and   staff

·         Offering improved front-line support to the community of student entrepreneurs and other “customers”

·         Supporting initiatives to increase student and academic staff engagement with our services

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of on-line learning/ communication tools and their development and implementation. Evidence of a strong creative talent in using existing and new materials in different ways is required; and with strong communication skills, candidates should be experienced in using relevant media, and in particular social media, to get clear messages to busy users about the benefits of the services and tools we offer.

With an excellent team working ethos and effective project management skills, you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service which is at the core of all that we do.  An ability to quickly pick up and adapt readily to new technologies and tools is also required.

It is of course important that candidates have an understanding of business and business start-up, and how this relates to an educational environment, and be passionate about entrepreneurship and enterprise education.

In turn we offer a supportive and dynamic team environment where we work together to deliver on common goals.

For an informal and confidential discussion please contact Anna Wood, Student Employment, Enterprise and Opportunities Manager or Lynda Povey, Enterprise Adviser
