The Faculty of Science has a vacancy for a Technician within the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The post holder will join a diverse team working to support scientific teaching and research within the School and will provide undergraduate and post-graduate technical support to both the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences (SEES) and to the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying (SCES) in a soil geotechnics context.
Specific duties will include; support of practical classes for the soils laboratory, assisting academic staff with the development and testing of new undergraduate practical classes and projects and assisting with demonstrating where required. Routine administration in support of the laboratories, including purchasing of materials and consumables will also be required.
The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to use their own initiative. You will be professional, with a relevant knowledge of general science. Knowledge and experience of geology / soil geotechnics in an experimental laboratory setting would be extremely advantageous.
The department is housed within its own building providing specialist scientific facilities used in research and teaching, working alongside many national and international bodies.
