We are looking for a versatile, and enthusiastic Groundsperson with recent grounds and sports pitch maintenance experience to join our supportive and friendly Estate Management Team. Working on your own initiative and with autonomy this "hands on" role is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of Estate Management Sporting Pitch activities providing technical expertise, marking out pitches and advice on soils/seeds.
Candidates must be able to mark out from scratch various sport pitches and over mark to a high standard. You will also need the ability to discuss, plan and consult with the Institute of Sport on all aspects of pitch usage.
This role will also work as part of our small in-house Gardening team and be required to undertake a range of gardening and grounds responsibilities with specific responsibility to ensure all our pitches and grounds are of the highest quality. Applicants will need to be competent in the use of ride on mowers/trailers/strimmer''s and hedge cutters etc.
The post holder will liaise closely and regularly with colleagues in the University''s Institute of Sport and with the Students Union. You must be proactive, well organised and accurate with a customer focused, helpful and flexible approach to work.
This role will involve working outside in all weathers across a large site, lifting and moving soils, large bags of fertilizers and using a range of equipment including ride-on mowers strimmers and hedge cutters. The post holder will use specialist equipment and will be expected to carry out routine maintenance of such equipment in order that it remains fully functional at all times.
