Technical Assistant Monday Friday 06.00-15.00 (shift flexibility essential due to business requirements)

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing environment, knowledge of industry practices and procedures
  • Understanding of workplace microbiology
  • Basic Food hygiene certificate, training will be given if required
  • Basic HACCP training certificate, training will be given if required
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent computer literacy skills including word and excel, ability to create reports and graphic representation of data
  • Able to work under own initiative, to solve problems that may occur
  • Ability to be work as part of a team, communicate confidently and to share ideas
  • Well organised and articulate approach to all tasks undertaken and given, ability to multi-task
  • Numerate and able to calculate simple arithmetic
  • Confidence in questioning staff concerning issues and ability to report all Health & Safety matters according to internal procedures
  • Competent to complete paperwork accurately, a fine eye for detail
  • Enthusiasm and integrity

Desirable

  • Previous bakery experience
  • Previous knowledge of working constraints of HACCP, ISP 9000/01 systems or British Retail Consortium Discipline
  • Experience of Internal Auditing

Tasks to include:-

  • To ensure all production control forms in use are current, latest issue and completed correctly
  • Help ensure all internal specifications are current, and monitor that tasks and procedures are carried out correctly
  • Ensure allergen procedures are followed correctly within the factory
  • Carry out internal auditing and complete records
  • Report non conformances to relevant departments
  • Investigate customer complaints, working with different departments carry out root cause analysis and compile report for Technical Manager.
  • Completion of customer product, allergen data requests
  • Filing of production records daily
  • Collection of samples for dispatch to laboratory, arrange collection, follow up on results
  • Monitor hygiene, manufacturing standards across the site
  • Carry out traceability exercises (set by Technical Manager and during audits both announced and unannounced audits / customer visits) and work with Technical Manager during actual audits
  • Undertaking of and recording of manual temperature checks on all chiller and freezer units
  • Monitor and report any issues on temperature monitoring system.
  • Taking control of finished product guides, working with department supervisors to complete each guide
  • Carry out quality assessment of products during the life cycle of our products from ingredient mix to finished product throughout the day (quality release of products)
  • Help with organoleptic analysis of products
  • Maintenance of supplier approval database, paperwork and ensure SAQ's up to date
  • Work alongside other managers to help resolve issues that arise.
  • Work with all departments if required by the needs of the business.
