The role

This is a new opportunity for an ambitious and experienced finance professional to play a pivotal role, working with senior leaders, Directors and Heads of Department across the University. You will be supported by an experienced and committed Finance team who will welcome your professional leadership on all aspects of University-wide financial services.

You will provide sound financial advice and support on matters of financial strategy including advice on funding, capital project appraisal and other technical financial issues. You will deputise for the Chief Financial Officer and lead the Financial Services team having responsibilities for financial accounting, payroll, finance services and finance systems.

What you will need to succeed

You will be ideally a professionally qualified Accountant, from either the private or public sector. Experience and knowledge of the Higher Education sector is desirable, but not essential. You will be able to demonstrate great interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels and to get the best from people. With a track record of success in leading financial resources from a large and complex organisation, you will also be experienced in working within a team and influencing others to achieve strategic outcomes.
