Are you a successful primary school teacher who would like to make a difference to the next generation of primary teachers? The Institute of Education, Health and Social Sciences provides high quality teacher education and professional development and we currently have a vacancy for a Lecturer in Education - Primary to join our successful team.


Working as part of the BA Primary Teaching and PGCE Primary teams, you will make a key contribution to the teaching of Professional Studies on the Primary Education programmes. The Professional Studies modules engage students in critical debates and discussion around the skills of teaching (behaviour management, planning, assessment etc.), knowledge of factors impacting teaching (curriculum design, inclusion, equality and diversity), alongside an appreciation of the broader philosophy of education. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the delivery of other primary curriculum subjects and other Education programmes where appropriate. You will also contribute to teaching, research and other development activities within the Primary Team.


You must hold Qualified Teacher Status and have a successful track record of teaching in the primary sector. You will be educated to at least degree level ideally with professional qualifications at Masters level. The ability to enthuse and motivate students is essential, as is a broad understanding of current initiatives underpinning Primary Education.


Shortlisted candidates will be expected to give a 10 minute presentation on the following at interview: "Give examples of how evidence or theory informs your teaching and why this is important"
