This role is for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, focused around University semester pattern.
You will report to the Lead Dyslexia Advisor, based in the Disability and Dyslexia Service within the department of Student Support and Wellbeing.
You will provide information, advice and guidance to students and prospective students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. This will include initial interview and/or screening of students or applicants with presumed or confirmed specific learning difficulties e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD. You will also assist students with applications for the Disabled Students'' Allowances.
You will also deliver high quality one-to-one specialist study skills tuition to students in order to encourage independent learning and facilitate academic progress.
With relevant experience and professional qualifications, you will be familiar with current issues regarding support for students with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties in higher education.
The post will be located at least one day at Bishop Otter Campus, Chichester by mutual agreement and will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS), which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.
