My client based in Fareham are now looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join their busy accounts team. They are seeking a dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic individual who wants to make a real difference .

* Supervise daily transactions in A/R, A/P, P/L and S/L and act as a reference point
* Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures.
* Assist with Group Payroll ensuring that salaries are kept up to date including pay rises and new employees
* Manage the accounts department regarding workload and distribution.
* Maintain accounts department attendance records, ensuring that holidays and sick are clearly monitored and forms completed accordingly
* Random audit checks to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately recorded (includes stock checks, cash float checks, transactional error checks)
* Assist in complex expenditure entries and validate recurring expenses
* Oversee and carries out first review of bank reconciliations, checking for errors
* Assist directly purchase ledger team and Finance Assistant with posting of expense invoices, at times of where the department's cover is low due to annual leave or absence
* Posting of cash book entries of a nominal type nature.
* Supervises or prepare monthly journal entries and posts and reviews prepayments & accruals on monthly basis
* Assist GFC in the preparation of financial statements, including population of reports and their presentation
* Prepares general ledger reconciliations - P&L or balance sheet.
* Internal control compliance - checks on compliance to validate controls have been implemented
* Assist in training staff on internal control procedures; assists GFC as needed
* Assist in any other monthly closing process
* To work on ad hoc or special projects, if requested; assist with yearly audit preparation.
* Carry out other duties which fall within reasonable expectations of the role.

What we require from you:

* Experience of assisting/preparing Management Accounts
* At least three to four years' experience in a similar position
* A Bachelor's degree in either finance or accounting or an alternative accounting qualification
* Excellent communication skills
* Accuracy and attention to detail are of paramount importance
* Positive attitude to work and tasks
* Strong Excel skills required.
