Department: Engineering, Computing and Design 24 month fixed-term contract The Department of Engineering, Computing and Design (ECAD) at the University of Chichester, in partnership with Fargro Limited, is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate to build the next generation of Digital Horticulture with a focus on Data Analytics, Machine Learning, AI and the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). The Associate will be based at Fargro’s headquarters near Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 9PY, with time also spent in the University Department, based in the recently opened Tech Park, on our beautiful Bognor Regis Campus, PO21 1HR. The project aims to develop and implement the next generation of Digital Horticulture to assist growers in optimising inputs and maximising outputs, delivering significant measurable, commercial, and environmental advantages to producing fresh produce and ornamental plants. The project requires an innovative approach to utilising data analytics, machine learning and AI techniques using data collected from remote sensors (no prior knowledge of such sensors is required). To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of a Master’s degree level (preferably PhD) in Computer Science, Data Analytics or relevant discipline. You will demonstrate exceptional research skills be accomplished in the application of Data Analytics, AI, and Machine Learning techniques, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, or practical experience, in the design and development of cloud-based systems. We are seeking someone who is energetic and enthusiastic and can demonstrate high emotional intelligence. You will have excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication which will support your ability to interact with a range of stakeholders ensuring engagement and successful negotiation where necessary. You will be optimistic and positive with a proven track record in problem-solving. You will need to be self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to project manage with guidance; as well being a team player.
