MAKE@Aldingbourne Enterprises is an innovative project that comprises of a charity shop with quirky mix of items for sale, a cafe which sells delicious cakes and home cooked lunches and space to run a variety of workshops for all ages including crafts sessions, cake decorating, sewing and upcycling. We are part of The Aldingbourne Trust, a charity who support adults with learning disabilities and / or Autism to develop skills in a variety of areas whilst enabling them to lead independent lives.
We are looking for a Retail Support Worker to manage the day to day retail operations. The role will include offering great customer service to all who visit Make whilst assisting and involving the people we support in all aspects of the retail day to day duties. Typical duties include sorting through donations, pricing up items for sale, ensuring displays are updated regularly to attract customers attentions and to reflect all the seasonal events of the year. As part of the MAKE team flexibility will be required to support other areas of the project as and when needed.
We accept a regular intake of donations so you will co-ordinate all the items received to ensure we gain the best value for them by either selling them in the charity shop, or online, or via eternal recycling organisations. We have a strong ethos for recycling and so part of your role would be to nurture links within the community to limit waste.
This is a part-time position based on 25 hours per week and is a fixed-term contract of a year to cover maternity leave. We can potentially be flexible on the days of the week you work. Make is open everyday of the week apart from Sunday and is based just off of the Fratton Road in Portsmouth. For more information please see the attached job description.
