The role:
To work as part of a team to assist with industrial machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment. Install and commission new equipment. Monitor equipment performance to reduce breakdowns and support continuous improvements. Maintain the structures and services of the business and ensure safety and environmental compliance for optimal operation.Tasks:
- Conduct inspections, repairs, and planned maintenance to high standards, ensuring machinery remains operational and reliable, whilst minimising downtime.
- Assist with developing and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to increase equipment lifespan and reliability.
- Lead or assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new machinery and upgrades.
- Complete, review, and update maintenance procedures and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Help maintain an effective inventory of spare parts and materials for maintenance activities.
- Provide an immediate reaction to breakdowns and implement effective repairs.
- Apply fault-finding procedures to determine the root causes of breakdowns and implement long term repairs.
- Analyse equipment failure data to identify recurring issues and develop corrective action plans.
- Monitor and track machine performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement to minimise downtime and breakdowns.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing innovative maintenance technologies or practices.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with internal policies and relevant regulatory requirements that include BRC, EDS, environmental, waste management, emissions, and hazardous materials handling.
- Ensure you and your colleagues are following manufacturer procedures and instructions during equipment operation.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations related to machinery and plant operations.
- Investigate causes of incidents or accidents involving equipment and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Follow and promote safety standards and best practices within the maintenance department.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained, including cleaning, storing, and proper disposal of tools and equipment.
- Recommend improvements to enhance machinery reliability and efficiency, and report on production processes, methods, cycle times, downtime, machine availability, and waste management.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to maintenance activities, equipment uptime, and overall plant efficiency.
- Analyse workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout to maximize manufacturing efficiency.
- Identify material specifications and equipment requirements for ongoing process improvements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure quality parts and services are delivered on time.
- Attend company mandatory & role specific, internal & external, learning & development sessions.
- Collaborative working across the company especially with the production and technical teams to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency.
- Any other reasonable additional tasks as requested by the management
