Portsmouth has been listed as the 10th best buy-to-let location in England in a list drawn up by HSBC.

Average property prices in Portsmouth are circa £142,000, and average rents are £775 a month which equates to the average rental yield that a buy-to-let investor in Portsmouth could expect to make is around 6.5 percent.

HSBC’s head of mortgages, Peter Dockar, said: “Buy-to-let remains a good investment for those looking for above-average returns, 23 of the top 50 areas offer yields above five per cent.”
