McDonald’s opened a new restaurant this week in Larchwood Avenue, Bedhampton generating 100 jobs.

The operator is Mr Grant Copper who runs several restaurants throughout the Portsmouth area. He said: "We’re thrilled to be opening our doors in Havant. We hope to see loyal fans of McDonald’s coming to enjoy what they know and love, as well as some new customers attracted by our fresh look and feel."

"As a local businessman, I’m keen to ensure ongoing investment in the area and we’re pleased to be able to provide a significant number of new jobs. Investing in the development of our staff is important – we want to ensure they have good learning opportunities which will benefit their careers but also because it will ultimately help us deliver consistently high levels of customer service."

Employees at the new restaurant will be given access to training and development programmes in addition to the opportunity to gain qualifications from adult certificates in Maths and English to a foundation degree in Managing Business Operations.

The Bedhampton store is one of the first McDonald's restaurants to offer a new service designed to improve customer experience and efficiency where customers place their order at a till in the normal way but then collect it from a dedicated pickup counter.

Editor's comment: We are delighted to hear of these new jobs being created in the Portsmouth area and which Mr Copper and his team ever success with the new restaurant. We understand Mr Copper started his restaurateur career in Portsmouth so it's great to see a local gentleman expanding his business operations further in our local area.
